Where I've been whiling away the hours...

So...naturally when you work too much, your mind tends to wander to other things. Not on purpose, mind you...it just happens. For me, it's how I can make my org better, what services can I provide that will better serve our communities.

This has a point, I swear it.

So, I have a friend who has an org. And his org is something pretty damn special. At least I think so. You may have heard of it. www.Perverted-Justice.com From here on out, we'll call it PeeJ.

So, what their purpose is to take down online sexual predators and wannabe pedophiles, one asshole at a time. How they do this is to create a profile on Yahoo or AIM as a young child. Usually between the ages of 12-15, boys and girls. Then, they sit and wait for the filth to start flying. Usually, the pedophile will contact our "13 year old girl". Normally, within minutes, the pervert is asking for sex talk etc with our "13 year old girl". Once the pervert wants to talk on the phone with the "13 year old girl", PeeJ has a young sounding adult call and pose as the child. They call this the "Verifier". Once PeeJ has the phone number, it's relatively easy to get the identity of the person. But...it doesn't stop here. If the pervert wants to meet our "13 year old girl", instead of the "13 year old girl" he either gets law enforcement or news cameras. PeeJ has been featured on Dateline, Fox News, Montel Williams and a whole slew of other media. Then, THEN...the perv is considered busted. (Well...they're busted even if they don't meet...). Their personal information, photos, phone number, city they live in, where they work...pretty much whatever they divulged in that little chat log there is alllll exposed, right there on PeeJ's site.

Here's the point of this post...

My question to you guys is what do you think about what they are doing? They are the least politically correct professional group I've ever met, but...not where it counts. Where they get politically incorrect is referring to the garbage that their exploiting as "Asshat" and "Subhuman Fecal Excrement". Which, in my opinion may not be sweet to hear, but it's definitely on the mark.

Here's my dilemma. I love what they are doing. However, they are pretty controversial. Some people have gone so far as to say that they are pushing child porn because of the chat logs being available to the public. I personally want to do a huge write up of them on my site. I have the go-ahead from the powers that be (our board and executive director...) to do such a write up. And, I WANT to do the write up. I want to help them in anyway that I possibly can...BUT...

I have information for little kids on my site, I have information for parents, I have sponsors and grant agencies to think of...I have all this stuff to consider.

What do you think? Take a gander at their site, and come let me know how you would feel going on to a missing person's site and finding a huge write up about it directing you to their site....

Not that my opinion counts, but...

An informaitonal story.... as it relates to pedofiles and abductions (makes it connected to your site) would be appropiate. Then a link and leave it to your site visitors to do what they will.

Kinda torn about the whole thing... I mean these guys on the site are totally horrible and deserve to have their lives ruined. On the other hand, the fact that they post the chat logs might not be such a good thing.

If you're site is going to be more family oriented, you might not want to include this as a link. I can't imagine having my child stummble across the PeeJ's site.
